STEM and STEAM go to English Class
Just before Thanksgiving NEXMAP, CV2 and joined Paul Oh from the National Writing Project and teacher leaders, Lou Buran Chico, CA from and Molly Adams, from Houston TX at NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English) to present 21c Notebooking to teachers from across the country.
In January the group reconvened on EducatorInnovator.org to present a webinar, Hacking the Notebook from Inside the Classroom. Lou and Molly talked about their work with notebooks, electronics and the connections and learning pathways that open up for their students when they work across disciplines.
Finding Your MUSE
Last summer NEXMAP and the Bay Area Writing Project presented a workshop for educators. This month Jason Sellers at UC Berkeley connected us with Dr. Lanette Jimmerson and her MUSE students (Multicultural Urban Secondary English). We shared 21c Notebooking with 15 her grad students working towards their teaching credentials. Follow the link here to see the animated GIF in action.
