Since its start in 2006, NEXMAP has opened minds and produced profound and intimate artistic experiences. With the help of our donors, we have:

Showcased over 55 internationally renowned artists from the Bay Area, Mexico, France, Japan, Switzerland and Canada at 39 different events,
Educated hundreds of under-served youth in its Inside/Out outreach initiative, by offering free admission and post-event conversations with musicians and composers, and providing unique hands-on workshops to demystify new technologies.
Nurtured young professionals through our state-wide Recording Award for California Composers, and our Media Workshops that develop and support the next generation of creators.

Murderous Little World on a West Coast Tour will stop in San Francisco. This multimedia piece by Composer and Artistic Director Linda Bouchard will be performed by the Canadian trio Bellows and Brass. More info soon!

Known internationally for his pioneering experiments in sound art. San Francisco artist Bill Fontana has worked for the past 30 years creating installations that use sound as a sculptural medium to interact with and transform our perceptions of visual and architectural settings.

Inside Out (I/O)

In the 2011 Winter-Spring Semester NEXMAP and June Jordan School for Equity teamed up to pilot a dynamic 14-week New Media Elective in Sound and Technology.

New Media Elective for High School Students will be implemented in three High Schools as a full year program starting in September 2012.
